South Cherokee/Jasper Driver Improvement Clinic is licensed by the Goergia Department of Driver Services to provide the six hour defensive driving course at both our Woodstock and Jasper clinics.

Defensive driving is an excellent course for both teens and adults to increase their awareness of potential hazards on the roadway and review specific skills needed in various emergency situations.

Individuals will complete Defensive Driving course for the following reasons:

bulletInsurance Reduction
Under current Georgia Law adult drivers with a clean driving record for the previous three years may be eligible for at least 10% reduction of insurance premium if they complete the six hour Defensive Driving course.
bulletTicket Dismissal
In the state of Georgia a judge can dismiss or non-process a ticket for a moving violation if the offender completes the six hour Defensive Driving Course. The insurance company will not be aware of a ticket having been issued for a moving violation.
bulletUnder Age 21 Suspension
Drivers under 21 years of age are required to take the Defensive Driving course if they have been convicted of speeding 24 mph or more over the speed limit. Georgia courts may require the six hour course if the driver is convicted of other moving violations.
bulletPoints Reduction
Under Georgia law, drivers may take the six hour Defensive Driving course once every five years and reduce up to seven points from their driving record. The Department of Driver Services will notify a driver concerning this course prior to accumulating the number of points to suspend the driver's license.
bulletEducational
Private companies may have requirements that their employees who operate a company vehicle take this course once a year or every three years to meet company policy or to meet insurance requirements.
bulletLicense Suspension
After a license has been suspended by the Department of Driver Services for points accumulation or for a specific offense, this course may be required prior to reinstatement of your license.

The Defensive Driving course is scheduled either over two evenings (6:30p-9:30p) or on Saturday or Sunday (9:00a – 4:00p) with one hour lunch break.

FEES

Fee for the Defensive Driving course is $75.00. Payment is accepted in cash, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, money order or check written on in-state bank signed by student.
